At our March session, Nikola Goranovic, the first certified wingwave® Coach and Trainer in the UK and the Co-Founder of INNERNATION Coaching & Development, explained and demonstrated how this innovative coaching method can effectively detect and eliminate mental blocks and unhelpful emotions, reduce our reactivity to stressors and helps us maximize our performance in all areas of life.

wingwave® is an integrated neuro-cognitive coaching method which combines three well-proven techniques: EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), NLP (neurolinguistic programming) and Kinesiology (muscle test). During Nikola's entertaining talk, we discovered how our fingers can talk even when we are silent, occasionally saying things we aren't even aware of; how the coach, by waving his hand rapidly in front the client's face in order to induce the rapid eye movement we experience during the REM stage of our sleep, manages to literally wipe away the negative emotions, brining the client into a much more emotionally neutral state.

Talking about issues or problems is not what wingwave® Coaching is about - this is one of the very few completely content-free coaching techniques. Nikola first ran a few demonstrations where volunteers openly spoke about the issues they wanted resolved so that the rest of us could gain an insight into the coaching process. Finally, we saw a demonstration of what a true wingwave® session would be like, relying only on the myostatic (muscle) response as a detector of emotions that are causing stress, without the volunteer having to explain how or why they experienced them.

During Nikola's presentation, a few of us had a chance to gain first-hand experience of the effects of this method and a few people who had had wingwave® sessions in the past were able to describe the profound and long-lasting impact that this short-term coaching method had on their lives. The Wingwave® Institute in Hamburg where this method was first developed more than 10 years ago is committed to research and, in collaboration with other academic institutions throughout Germany, is constantly developing new ways of testing the effectiveness of  wingwave® Coaching.
Hove StressBusters will be keeping an eye out for the results of this research...
