Mindful Eating is a new approach to healthy and balanced eating. It is an easy to learn skill for gaining awareness of how you eat, accepting your current eating behavior and reconnecting with the enjoyment of eating. A mindful eating specialist works with you to identify issues with nutrition and specifically your eating behavior. The specialist assesses how you eat, where you eat, why you eat the way you eat, whether you listen to your body’s signals of hunger, satiety, thirst and how you feel about your body. By exploring your eating behavior, the specialist assists you to connect with your body needs, improve the relationship between your emotional state and eating, and your relationship with your body. Dr Fenia Giannopoulou is an Eating Behaviour-Nutrition Specialist and a Senior Lecturer in the University of Brighton. Fenia has been working in the field of Nutrition and Eating Behavior for the last 12 years, and she is the founder of Mindful Eating Brighton. In this session, she will teach us new practical skills of mindful eating through participation in various eating behavior exercises. A great opportunity to discover how you can let go of stress-related eating!

Human touch is scientifically proven to have a wonderful impact on our physical system - our brains produce more serotonin and oxytocin. Both of these chemicals make us calm and happy. One benefit of touch is that it reduces the amount of cortisol we produce. Cortisol is known as the "stress hormone" which suppresses the immune system. This is why we tend to get sick more often when we are stressed. Touch can play an important role in reducing stress and strengthening our immune systems. Helen Thatcher launched Holding for Healing in February 2016, after many years of delivering exercises of holding and touch in her work as a Vital Development Facilitator. Holding for Healing is a one-to-one technique that nourishes the clients on all levels, working as an antidote to loneliness, stress, being-overwhelmed with the pressures of life and a re-compensation for the lack of compassionate, loving touch in many of our lives today. Helen is extremely skilled providing a safe space for clients to relax deeply and experience the gentle healing that occurs when we feel totally held and can release the tension and trauma held in the body-mind, which automatically creates space for love to flow in. Helen's talk will be upbeat and interactive allowing us all to feel the benefits of receiving touch for ourselves.
