Leigh Martin BSc (Hons), MBAcC
Swedish Massage Therapist & Cupping Therapy Practitioner @ Leigh Martin Acupuncture

Leigh is a fully insured Acupuncturist and member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).

She first became interested in training as an Acupuncturist, after experiencing its benefits first-hand during a time in her life when she suffered chronic neck and shoulder pain. Leigh realised that her pain connected directly to work related stress. Western medical interventions offered steroid injections and strong pain killers, however this did not address the underlying issue or feel like a viable long term solution. This led Leigh to explore alternatives to health care and personal well being. She gave up her long time post in Adult Social Care, to embark on a journey of study and self-development, during which time she had regular acupuncture treatment. Leigh now manages her pain and rarely has flare ups, which she attributes to making changes to her working lifestyle, training to become an Acupuncturist, plus a daily meditation practice and Qi Gong exercise.

Leigh believes that acupuncture has the potential not only to treat and alleviate a person’s immediate symptoms, but also to promote a greater sense of wellbeing and relaxation in general. Often people will report that they feel much calmer and sleep easier, even if they have attended for a seemingly unrelated issue. Leigh is interested in treating all kinds of physical conditions, as well as supporting the entire person.

In her work, Leigh uses a system of patient enquiry, body diagnosis (looking at the tongue, pulse reading and feeling temperature) before formulating a treatment plan. She often uses massage in her acupuncture treatments which is great as both a diagnostic and relaxation tool. Cupping therapy is also an option.

Since her graduation, Leigh has completed extensive training in Swedish Massage, Micro Systems of Ear Acupuncture, Facial Acupuncture and Facial Cupping for cosmetic purposes, Hot Stones Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Pulse reading and Cupping Therapy.

"The treatments I received from Leigh were a lifeline, providing some much-needed relief from the chronic stress, emotional disturbance and severe agitation I was experiencing at the time. I was new to acupuncture and found her kind and sensitive approach to people and their health, was well balanced with her professionalism"
