Guest Speaker: Sarah Dawson

Sarah is a freelance journalist, author and yoga teacher who has worked in the media for over 15 years, writing features for a range of national publications from the Guardian to Red magazine, specialist publications including Om Yoga and Living France, as well as online portals such as Healthista.com and Yoga Abode. With yoga, personal development and wellness her passion, Sarah developed her therapeutic yoga teaching business - Karmiyoga - in 2007 after undertaking the one month intensive (200 hour RYS) Sivananda Yoga teacher training course in Kerala, India.

Sarah chose the name Karmiyoga because it’s a word play on “calm-me” - which is her intention as a teacher; to help ease and alleviate the stress/pressures we all face in contemporary living, and create a space to slow down, restore and rejuvenate. She began teaching drop in classes at Revitalise, Hove in the autumn of 2007 and in 2010 she undertook a further 200 hour registered yoga school teacher training, in Dru Yoga, a style she came across in the Netherlands in 2006.

Dru Yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga that works on the subtle energies to facilitate positive growth and transformation. Sarah's classic yoga training combined with her appreciation of gentle hatha yoga complements perfectly the ethos of Dru Yoga, which is very safe and accessible for all ages and bodies, with easily applied modifications.

Sarah is also author of Everyday Yoga, The Essential Guide and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, The Essential Guide (both published by Need2know books) and alongside teaching yoga, she visits and writes reviews of yoga/health retreats and inspirational workshops.

Sarah is a fully insured/DBS-cleared, and qualified yoga teacher (200 hours, Sivananda Yoga, 2007, India, and 200 hours, Dru Yoga, 2012, London) running classes with students from toddlers to seniors.
