Guest Speaker: Trudi Edginton BA Applied Psychology, PhD, AFBPsS

Trudi is a doctor of psychology with over 10 years of research and teaching experience in the area of cognitive neuroscience and rehabilitation. She started her career as a Qualified nurse and worked in acute clinical settings in major teaching hospitals in London and USA. Her interest in the psychological and biological mechanisms that underpin illness and recovery led her to pursue an academic career in Psychology and Neuroscience.

Trudi is a Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience and she is the Course Leader of a new and exciting Masters in Cognitive Rehabilitation. She is currently working with individuals with dementia, individuals with traumatic brain injury and individuals with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Trudi has published her research findings in the area of neuropharmacology of memory in clinical conditions in a number of scientific journals and applies these findings to her teaching and clinical work.

Over the recent years Trudi has become fascinated by mindfulness meditation- based approaches to psychological wellbeing and health, and after attending several mindfulness courses and workshops she went on to complete a Teacher Practitioner Course accredited by The University of Bangor. Since then Trudi has run one-to-one mindfulness sessions as part of her ongoing research and has recently published a number of studies exploring the cognitive and emotional mechanisms that underlie the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation.
